Lakes Entrance & Wilson's Promontory National Park

Lakes Entrance & Wilson's Promontory National Park

After Orborst, we continued down the Prince's Highway towards a town called Lakes Entrance. This is surrounded by sandbars and has a river that separates the town from the beach, which sits on a sandy outcrop. We explored the town for a while, went to some surf shops, found a Safeway store (apparently they still exist!), and went to explore the beach.

After Lake's Entrance, we visited a National Park called Wilson's Promontory. The weather wasn't great, it was cold and very windy, but the National Park was fantastic. Very rugged, wild and with very little signs of life. No housing developments or even shops to really speak of here, and it sits on a large peninsula that is all protected land. We wandered the beaches and admired the scenery for a while, and then went to find some wildlife.

The wildlife inside the national park was pretty varied. We found plenty of animals! There were curious signs saying things like 'Check under your vehicle as wombats frequently chew on cables'.
