Dalmeny, Narooma, Tathra, Merimbula, Pambula

Dalmeny, Narooma, Tathra, Merimbula, Pambula

At this point, we were mostly following the surfing guides looking for good surf, as there weren't many big towns/attractions/famous areas, and we had discovered that the surf guides were very good at placing us in beautiful coastal areas and places we wouldn't have even thought to go otherwise!

The next stop after Jervis Bay was a campground in the town of Dalmeny. Dalmeny sits on a river, as most of the towns on the area known as the Sapphire Coast do, and the campground overlooked the rivermouth as it entered the sea. We arrived at sundown to one of the most picturesque campsites we've ever been to. We also found a fire pit, and the owners gave us a wheelbarrow of firewood which saw us a good 3 hours of sitting out by the fire.

The next morning we set off to find surf and came across the town of Narooma. I found some waves by a breakwall and went for a quick session. I didn't stay long as there was a seal colony around, swimming around the waves and sitting on the rocks, and a known shark population that hunted said seals, and I was the only one in the water for most of the session.

 SEALS!

Despite that, I had some fun, and we left further down the road, where we came across a town called Tathra. Tathra had a fun skatepark which I skated for a bit, before we ambled down the high street before having some lunch by the beach!

After lunch, we headed down to Merimbula, a little town which we were due to stay in for the night. It was here, getting some shopping, that we had an offer from a random stranger to buy our van. We still needed it, so we politely declined. Merimbula was a nice town, we were there in the middle of a jazz festival so everyone was around the streets listening to live music, and there was a variety of events on. After my surf the day previously, which was cold enough for me to resort to a rash vest, I thought if we were going further south I'd best buy a wetsuit. Which I did.

After Merimbula, we went down to a lovely place called Pambula Rivermouth. This is a legendary surf spot for the local community but was flat as a pancake when we arrived. It was still a stunning place, with the sea coming into the river through a forest lined, rocky entrance. We went for a walk, climbed up some rocks, and had some lunch!
