The Packing Games

So this is now getting very real:

Up until this week, despite all the planning, our trip seemed very far away and the details were in the back of our minds/deep in our email inboxes. Now that the time has come to actually pack, it's getting very real and even a little stressful! Packing is a nightmare - what constitutes a necessity? What will last me a whole year? Which of my many, many T-shirts do I take? What ratio of vests to shorts? How many pairs/what type of trousers? There's limited space and a seemingly unlimited list of things we want to pack and take away with us. I have a handy online list. It thinks:

- 3 pairs of socks
- 5 T-shirts/vests
- 2 pairs of shorts

etc etc

That's not realistic for a year surely? But then again, neither is what I want to take. It won't fit in my actually somewhat voluminous suitcase. I am going to have to do a brutal trimming of what I've pre-prepared just before we leave.
On top of that, the vast quantities of paperwork (never ending lists, tax returns, student loan forms, change of address forms, money transfer forms, qualification scanning and printing, job applications, house viewings to arrange) is even more than I would be doing if we were back at work teaching!

Update: Packing has finally been done. After much stressing, literal sweating and various descriptive and imaginative swearing sessions later we are all packed and ready to go.

That is, until we get on the flight and remember something vital that we completely forgot about.
