Christmas on the Sunny Coast!

CHRISTMAS ON THE SUNNY COAST!

Unfortunately one major drawback of being in Australia is that we are away from absolutely everyone at Christmas. We did miss everyone and we wish we could have popped home just for a few days.

Despite that,we had a great time here. We tried to be as Christmassy as possible! Charlotte's family were down in Australia and cooked a fantastic Christmas BBQ that we ate next to the hot tub on the penthouse balcony in Mooloolaba (I know, very Christmassy!).

 DELICIOUS!
I didn't actually cook any of the food. That would have been bad for everyone.
Christmas breakfast pancakes, the tree with presents under it, the gingerbread train, tinsel and a santa surfboard. Christmas, nailed.

I even went surfing wearing my ultra-stylish Santa hat, on barely-there waves!

Unfortunately for New Years Eve I was working from 4.30pm to 2am. However, I tactically timed my break to catch the 12:00 fireworks! So technically, I wasn't working to see in 2015!

Australia Zoo

AUSTRALIA ZOO

So far, we haven't had all that much luck in coming across Australia's natural wildlife in their own environment. So recently, we cheated a bit and headed straight to Australia Zoo, which is only a half-hour drive down the Steve Irwin highway from us.

We've been to the Zoo before, so we knew what we were in for. An enormous place (100 Acres) full of not only Ozzie wildlife, but also animals from Africa, America, Asia and Europe.

The Zoo itself was opened by Steve Irwin and his family, and since Steve's death, has been continued by his wife and children. Last time we were there, we watched them performing the crocodile show. This time, it was performed by the zookeepers.
